Much like Dorothy in the classic story of the Wizard of Oz, Exact Medical is not in Kansas anymore. Our progression as a company has required many changes from where we originally began. A company that started in our President’s, Dave Power, basement that has evolved into an ever-expanding medical manufacturing company supporting our many customers throughout the global medical device industry.
Through the required process of evolution, is it possible for a company to expand and develop without losing the core direction and beliefs that were infused from the beginning? We believe so, but it does not come easily. It requires the ability to adapt and expand to support the ever-changing demands of our customers and the market while maintaining the things which have allowed us to grow into the company we are today.
As our customer base, product range and production capacity have continued to grow through the years, there have been some things that have never changed. One of the most important has been the belief in partnerships with our customers. During this global pandemic the world is going through, many companies have come to understand the difference between a transactional relationship and a partnership with their suppliers. Partnerships with your suppliers does not always mean that everything goings perfectly. It means when issues arise, pandemics occur, and demands increase, they will do everything within their ability to support your needs as a customer.
Furthermore, remaining internally funded by our ownership group of Dave and Ryan Power, their continued dedication and belief in Exact have led to multiple expansions that have allowed Exact to continue to grow to meet our customers’ needs. While not having to sacrifice our direction as a company, to outside funding groups that worry more about profitability of a company, we maintain the core foundation of who we are.
It is an inevitability that a company will need to adjust strategy, change directions, expand products and adjust many things to maintain continuous improvement but this does not require a change to the principals that have guided us every step of the way. We may not be in Kansas anymore, but we are still the same company we have always been.
